Living Breathing Office Building — Chain10 Architecture

Biological model: Biosphere and living ecosystems

Company: Chain10 Architecture

A living, breathing office building concept by Chain10 Architecture that integrates biological systems and ecosystem functions into building design.

The challenge

Buildings are typically lifeless structures that consume resources and degrade local ecosystems. Integrating biological systems could improve indoor air quality, reduce energy consumption, and restore ecosystem value.

Nature's strategy

Living biosphere and integrated natural ecosystems

What was emulated

Ecosystem services (air purification, water cycling, temperature regulation, habitat provision)

The innovation

Office building design integrating living ecosystems for biological air and water filtration, temperature regulation, and habitat restoration.

Full case study

Chain10 Architecture developed a living office building concept that integrates biological systems throughout the structure. Rather than treating the building as dead infrastructure, the design incorporates living walls, integrated ecosystems, air purification through biological processes, and water cycling similar to natural systems. The building itself functions partially as a living organism - maintaining internal ecosystem balance, filtering air and water through biological processes, and adapting to environmental conditions.
